    “One big family” at the Centre
    Lunchtime for web

    For five weeks throughout July and August the Centre’s family services team welcomed low income families to the Summer Programme. The free programme provides a safe and engaging place for children up to the age of 12, helping them build their confidence, improve social skills and generally have lots of fun.

    New chairman for the Centre

    The Cardinal Hume Centre has appointed Philip Yates as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The appointment follows the sudden death in January of the previous Chairman, Paul Goggins, MP.

    Today I have been studying sign language with one of the hostel clients. They want to learn this skill which is great. I have already learnt some while watching Mr. Tumble on Cebeebies with My daughter.
    Wow!! The keys have arrived for our new flats for homeless young people. Not long now til the first residents move in :-)

    Health and fitness is an important area of support we offer to clients. I myself have a degree in sports physcology and enjoy arranging and taking part in events with clients and other staff. These balls can be found under My desk.
    Two female residents at the Young People's Hostel started their first ever jobs this week. Se congratulate then and wish then good luck. They will be supported by the Centre to be successful in their new roles. The words on My colleagues mug are very apt. Do you remember your first job?
    The young people in the hostel are working hard to find employment. I placed this note on a Hostel residents door congratulating him after months of applications and unsuccessful interviews. He kept on being positive and now he is working as a chef.
    The young Clients in are Working hard to get employment. In alot cases their hard work is paying off. I stuck this Note on Jamie's bedroom door. He has started work as a chef, after getting, attending, but not being successful in many other interviews.
    Fan Working overtime in the Support Office this week. Hot, hot, hot.
    Anna, our finance officer has bought in a HUGE bunch of sweet peas from her garden! They smell amazing!
