The Cardinal Hume Centre - Transforming lives

Parishes

Parishes all around the UK raise vital funds for the Centre in various ways, from retiring collections to special fundraising events. Groups such as the Catholic Women's League, Union of Catholic Mothers, and Justice and Peace also make great contributions to the Centre. Here are some ways in which your parish or church group can get involved:

Invite a Speaker from the Centre

Jennifer Mosley - our Community Fundraiser - is available to visit your parish or church group to talk about the work the Centre does in helping young and vulnerable people, either at mass or as part of a smaller group meeting. You can find Jennifer's contact details at the bottom of this page.

Confirmation Groups

We welcome confirmation groups to the Centre to see and hear about the work we do. We spend a couple of hours with the group talking about the issues and impact of homelessness and what each of us can do to help those affected by it. The time helps the group to better understand homelessness with the aim of organising a fundraising event to raise money for the Centre.

Events Throughout the Year

We are delighted to have been adopted by parishes as their chosen charity at various points throughout the year: some parishes have organised fundraising events and collections throughout Lent or Advent; others have organised collections of food or toiletries for the Centre's clients at Christmas or harvest time.

Fundraising events have included coffee mornings, dinners or cake sales, and are limited only by your imagination. We know of one parishioner who raised money by selling fresh trout outside his church during Lent!

(If you arrange a collection of food or toiletries, we ask that the food is non-perishable and that there are no razor blades or sharp objects included.)

Gift Aid on Collections

If you are planning to hold a collection for the Centre we can supply Gift Aid envelopes to enable parishioners to Gift Aid their contributions. This means that for every pound they give, we can claim back a further 28p from the government - a great way to maximise the value of your collection.
