The Cardinal Hume Centre - Transforming lives

Jane's journey

Jane had been unemployed for two months when she met up with the Centre’s Careers Advisor when he came to the local job centre.  He told her about the IT training and employment service on offer at the Cardinal Hume Centre.

He helped her assess what kind of job she was looking for and research the opportunities open to her.  He helped her map out a clear path on how to reach her goals.  Over the course of the next few months, Jane attended the Centre regularly receiving help with putting together her CV, in job searching and filling out application forms and role playing to practice her interview technique.

The Careers Advisor also referred Jane to the Centre’s IT training suite where she received expert tuition in improving her computer skills and, as a result, Jane passed two Computer Literacy and Information Technology accredited exams.  She was also able to use bespoke job searching software available in the Centre to research opportunities and apply for jobs.

“The staff are so encouraging and supportive”

Jane’s journey was not always an easy one, and there were times when she wanted to give up.  However, staff were on hand to give her support when she needed it most.

Thanks to her tireless commitment, hard work, and the Centre’s support, Jane found a new job just four months after her first visit to the Centre.

“I have such admiration and gratitude for the Centre and its work”
