Celebrating Volunteers

A week really isn’t long enough to celebrate everything that volunteers make happen at the Centre.

Once again the Cardinal Hume Centre celebrated Volunteers’ Week and giving thanks for the amazing contribution that our 100+ volunteers and mentors make in delivering services to our clients. Volunteers Week is an annual event held during the first week of June and it celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. The Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too.

Our English language Coordinator Rachel Applegate says “we could not support over 125 students without our amazing volunteers who are so dedicated”

We always like to celebrate with a party and this year Volunteers Week happens to be close to our anniversary Mass on 13th June. All Volunteers and Mentors have been invited to attend this and/or the drinks party afterwards. On the same evening, following on from Volunteers week, The Volunteer Centre Westminster is holding their Volunteer Awards Ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in Central London where a couple of Cardinal Hume Centre volunteers are due to receive certificates of merit in recognition of all the hard work.

If you would like to get involved, we are currently looking for volunteers to help clients with English as well as needing more helping hands in our busy, friendly Charity Shop.
