On Saturday 16th February, the Cardinal Hume Centre opened its doors to invite everyone who uses the Centre, or who lives in the local area to come and get involved and have their say in how things work here.
Along with amazing moroccan food, cooked by some of the parents who use our family centre, there were activities for the children, and an incredible moving performance by Cardboard Citizens (a theatre production where all actors have had an experince of homelessness).
It was a wonderfully informal day, where people of all ages relaxed and chatted together with staff about their experinces at the Centre, and their lives in general.
As one hostel resident said “it is so important to talk about these things, to feel like your opinion matters.”
We are currently gathering all the information together from all the discussions throughout the day, which will in turn help to shape what we currently offer, as well as helping the Centre to reach even more people who need our help.
We will of course keep you posted on any findings and changes made as a result of the Open Forum!
