CSAN comprises over 40 Catholic charities and Caritas organisations who work across England and Wales, providing support to families and children living in poverty, prisoners, victims of crime, refugees, older people, homeless, disabled people and travellers. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching (CST), CSAN works with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in England and Wales.
CSAN members are supported and the network developed by the national team based in London. This focuses on the capacity building for social action and social justice work in member charities and Dioceses, and also on enabling the voice of their collective concerns to be raised in Parliament through CSAN’s advocacy work. A budget of £300,000 supports the national team: member organisations expend some £170 million in social service.
The Board of Trustees is looking to recruit new members with a broad range of experience especially people with expertise in the following areas: the charity sector, finance and risk mitigation, fundraising and communications, the law.
You will need to be able to commit to four Board meetings per year, with the associated preparation and follow-up work. Other events or conferences may call for your presence; some specific work relating to your particular skills will also be expected. Most Board meetings take place in London. This is a Voluntary role.
