Ember Yard selects the Centre as their Charity of the Year

EMBER YARD

The Centre is delighted to be selected by the Ember Yard restaurant as their Charity of Year.

From today and for the next 12 months, the Ember Yard will be fundraising for the Centre and supporting clients to pursue careers in hospitality by offering restaurant visits, career advice and practical work experience.

Ember Yard will fund two food skills projects at the Centre. The first of these will be weekly cooking and budgeting workshops, for the young people living in the hostel. For many of the residents (who may be as young as 16) this is the first time they will have lived on their own. This project will give them the confidence and skills to budget and cook for themselves, and for some will be the first step to a career in the hospitality.

The second project will teach vulnerable families, with little income, how to cook healthy meals on a budget, and allow local families to meet and socialise over a meal, helping them to feel part of the community.

These life skills workshops are vital for people at the Centre and will provide them with the skills to live independently.  These two projects would not be possible without this support – so a huge thank you to the Ember Yard team.
