ETcetera Summer Concert

On a slightly overcast day in Westminster, it was such a treat to escape from the rigours of the workplace to the serenity and beauty of St Stephen’s church, Rochester Row for the ETcetera Choir’s lunchtime summer concert.

Beautiful English choral music for a summer’s day transported the audience to a world of long balmy days and a landscape of garlands and watermills. Entrance to concert was free but a collection was a carried out on behalf on Cardinal Hume Centre.

Paul Clarkson delighted us with one organ solo and two piano solos, including Sarabande by Malcolm Arnold.  Sadly this was Paul’s  last concert with ETcetera. He is leaving Westminster for a new job south of the river, and will no longer be close enough to rehearse and play with the choir.

The concert ended with Bob Chilcott’s  A Little Jazz Mass, which had some of the audience nodding and tapping with closed eyes, as if they were in a smoky jazz bar.

The Centre thanks the ETcetera choir for their continuing support and wishes Paul the best of luck with his new job.
