New chairman for the Centre

The Cardinal Hume Centre has appointed Philip Yates as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The appointment follows the sudden death in January of the previous Chairman, Paul Goggins, MP.

Cathy Corcoran, Chief Executive of the Centre, said: “We are delighted that Philip is joining the Board as our new Chairman. We are lucky to have attracted someone with Philip’s breadth of experience and I am sure he will be invaluable in helping us to grow and develop the Centre in accordance with the aims of Cardinal Hume.”

Philip Yates is a founding partner of Perella Weinberg Partners, an independent corporate advisory and asset management firm. Philip’s professional background is in law, having qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales with Macfarlanes, the London law firm, before moving into a corporate advisory role with S.G. Warburg, Merrill Lynch and, as from June 2006, Perella Weinberg Partners.

“I am hugely impressed by the work undertaken by the Cardinal Hume Centre and honoured to have been invited to be the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees,” said Philip. “I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees and in providing support and encouragement to Cathy Corcoran and her team. I am confident that the charity will go from strength to strength in its provision of services, responding to the ever-increasing needs of the local community. ”
