I am glad to write this letter to you as Patron of the Cardinal Hume Centre. I am continually impressed with the great work of the Centre, its development and its response to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Cardinal Hume had great compassion for the homeless young people he saw on the streets and for families housed in squalid bedsits. I was fortunate to meet recently four of the young people who currently call the Centre their home. I was delighted by their confidence and enthusiasm for the future – a future made possible by your support.
When you receive this magazine the season of Advent will almost be upon us. I know that for many of the people who come to the Centre, Christmas can be a very difficult and lonely time, especially if they are without a home or separated from their family.
I know the Centre simply could not welcome and help so many people without your support. Unfortunately as we approach Christmas and the New Year it is likely that many more people will be in need of the Centre’s help. Please may I encourage you to continue to give generously to its work.
With every good wish,
