Cardinal Hume Centre announces Royal Academy as venue for 2018 Sleepout

The stunning Royal Academy of Arts will be the venue for the Cardinal Hume Centre’s 2018 sleepout on 6 November, the Cardinal Hume Centre has announced today.

The all-night event challenges business and community leaders – along with their colleagues, family or friends – to grab a sleeping bag, brave the cold, and spend a night under the stars in the grounds of one of the most iconic buildings in the capital. All proceeds from the event will support the Cardinal Hume Centre, which has been helping people to overcome poverty and the threat of homelessness for more than 30 years.

Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer, Patricia Marron, who co-ordinates the event says:

“We are thrilled to have such a beautiful and historic venue as the RA to hold this year’s sleepout. It is very fitting that it is located in Westminster, in the heart of community we support. This event is an exciting opportunity for people to spend an evening in this unique venue while raising money for people who do not have a safe or stable place to live. While cannot guarantee a good night’s sleep, but we can promise it will be a fun and memorable event!”

Martha Clarke Director at Clarke Mediation UK who took part in the Centre’s last sleepout, said

“It was a fantastic event, held in a unique venue (and) I met some great people. Most importantly I knew that all the money I had raised would go to help people facing homelessness. I would encourage anyone to take part in the Sleepout. It’s not a comfortable night but it is a meaningful one.”

The Cardinal Hume Centre is encouraging as many people as possible to get involved in this exciting event.
