Our support of the Centre for Homelessness Impact paper on temporary accommodation

October 22, 2025

While there is a lack of evidence about what does work, the recommendations of the Centre for Homelessness Impact paper on support for families living in temporary accommodation (released October 2025) underline the importance of wraparound approaches like ours. You can read the paper here.

As homelessness nationally rises, some 3800 children currently live in temporary accommodation in Westminster alone. Because there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to homelessness, we offer personalised support based on each person or family’s unique situation. By putting children and young people at the heart of what we do, we build trust and foster long-term relationships to create lasting, positive change. By doing this, in the past 12 months, the Centre has supported over 1,500 people.

We offer a wide range of services to meet the full needs of individuals and families. This includes a family centre, supported accommodation for young people, expert advice in housing, welfare, immigration and employment, and therapeutic support. We also invest in research and data to make sure our approach truly works.

The Centre for Homelessness Impact asked us to show them the work we do with children, young people, and families in Westminster in compiling its paper. They spent the morning at our Family Centre in Pimlico at one of our stay-and-play sessions. These sessions, along with holiday activities and other child-led programmes help children learn, grow, and recover from the trauma of homelessness and poverty. They also enable our team to build relationships with the parents who may be able to access wider support from our other services. And this approach works – in the last 12 months, more than two thirds of the clients we supported used more than one service.
