Cost of Living

In the last few months, we saw more people coming to us for help as more families struggle to cope as costs for food, basic essentials and fuel rise.

The impact on families

Rising fuel, food and housing costs threaten to have a devastating impact on low-income families. It risks pushing more children further into poverty and to increase levels of youth and family homelessness.

In Westminster, thousands are homeless, nearly a third of children live in poverty and there are over 3,500 children living in temporary accommodation. There is significant evidence that this will increase, endangering future wellbeing, health and life chances.

Our Family Centre has extended its opening hours providing: a safe place for children to take part in well-being and educational activities; warm meals for families and a place where parents receive support and can access advice.

As many people may no longer be able to afford home WIFI, our Digital Hub will allow children, young people and adults to study, learn or fill in online forms or job applications with our staff on hand to support them.
