Immigration
Free immigration advice in London
We provide free immigration advice and legal representation to people living in London who cannot afford to pay for a solicitor.
Our service focuses on young people aged 16–25 and families with children under 18, particularly those experiencing poverty, homelessness, or insecure housing.
Demand for free immigration advice in London is very high. We aim to help as many people as possible, but we cannot take on every case.
Use the eligibility checker below to see whether we may be able to support you and what to do next.
Who we support
We prioritise children and families when allocating appointments.
You do not need to live in Westminster to access this service.
You may be eligible for our free advice service if all of the following apply to your situation.
If we are not able to help, you can find other services that offer immigration advice.
What we can help with
We provide immigration advice and representation for:
- Applications for leave to remain based on your private and family life
- Applications to extend or vary your leave to remain
- Visa or immigration application fee waivers
- Asylum and protection claims
- Domestic abuse cases
- Settlement – staying the in UK
- British citizenship – for children only
- No recourse to public funds
- Home Office challenges – including documentation reviews and appeals
If we cannot support your case, we will explain why and suggest other regulated providers who may be able to help.
Because availability varies across London, it is sensible to contact more than one accredited adviser.
First check if we can help
We use an online eligibility checker to understand the type of immigration help you need.
Please answer the questions carefully. Based on your answers, you will be told whether your case meets our basic criteria and what the next step is.
If you meet our criteria, you will need to speak to a member of our team so we can assess your situation in more detail.
If you are unable to complete the questions online, call our assessment team.
Before you contact us
To help us assess your case more quickly, have the following ready if possible:
- Passport or travel document
- Biometric residence permit or eVisa details
- Home Office letters or emails
- Home Office reference number
- Details of any deadlines
If your visa is expiring soon or you have received a deadline from the Home Office, tell us when you first make contact.
If you do not have all your documents, contact us anyway and explain your situation.
Regulated and accredited advice
Our immigration advice service is:
- Regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority
- Accredited under the Specialist Quality Mark
- Delivered under a legal aid contract for asylum and immigration work
This means our advisers are authorised to provide immigration advice and legal representation.
