What's changed?

In 2026, we're marking our 40th year since the Centre was opened by Cardinal Basil Hume in 1986. Lots has changed in four decades – but the important things have stayed the same.

We were founded to provide a welcoming place for young people and families experiencing homelessness and poverty. Today, with the need greater than ever, we're proud to still be in the heart of Westminster providing that service.

It feels like the right time to update our look with our ambitions for the future.

Why we've refreshed our brand

We want our visual identity to clearly convey the scale of our work today and the role we play for young people, children, and families in Westminster.

It is an opportunity to present ourselves with clarity and confidence as we move into our next chapter and work to reach more people.

In the last year, we helped 1516 people, including 934 families and 356 people under 25.

In the next two years we want to reach 500 more people.

Updating our logo

We've made subtle changes to our logo so that it remains familiar to our existing clients and long-term supporters while still bringing us more up to date.

The new logo presents Cardinal Hume Centre in capitals for a more confident, professional presence.

Our strapline, 'Each person matters', is now clearly positioned in sentence case, making it warmer and more approachable.

The heart-in-the-house graphic is now part of the logo itself, reflecting our core values and the welcoming, person-centred approach central to our work.

And for those with a keen eye, the chimney has gone, recognising that homes today come in many shapes and sizes.

500 more

In response to the increased need we are experiencing, we have an ambition to support even more people in our community.

We have set up a new 40th anniversary Development Board which is working with us to help us raise an additional £1.2 million so we can reach 500 more people every year.

Over the coming months, we'll be letting you know more about the exciting things we have planned to help raise these vital funds.

What's happening this year

This year, our work will include:

  • Our family services team extending its outreach work to reach more people with complex needs
  • Working specifically with care leavers who need supported accommodation in our five move-on flats in Basil Hume House
  • Our education and learning team, alongside their day-to-day support of young people in our supported accommodation and parents that come to us through our services, continuing their workshop programmes for mums who need confidence and skills to get back to work

Get in touch

Our supporters and partners play a critical role in enabling us to reach those who need our person-centred, practical services, and we thank you for everything you do.
